The Snarly Yow is a 18th-century, phantom black dog cryptid from Maryland and West Virginia folklore, introduced by German immigrants. It is described as a 6-foot tall, invincible canine with glowing red/yellow eyes that stalks travelers, disappears at will, and can change size.
