Alkali Lake Monster
The Alkali Lake Monster, also known as the Walgren Lake Monster or “Giganticus Brutervious,” is a legendary 40-foot-long, alligator-like cryptid said to inhabit Walgren Lake (formerly Alkali Lake) near Hay Springs, Nebraska. Reported in the early 1920s as a roaring beast with a horn between its eyes, it was largely a 1923 hoax created by Colonel John G. Maher.
